Parkinson's Disease Awareness Training

Course Details

This course is for all health care professionals who work in NHS and Health and Social Care settings to include Private Nursing and Residential homes supporting patients who suffer from Parkinson’s disease .The participants will be able to support patients in identifying the early warning signs and progression of the disease to diagnosis, the benefits of various evidence based treatments, monitoring side effects  to monitor and manage their diabetes effectively in line with current NICE Guideline.

Course Aims

For CCT Skilled Trainers to deliver high quality accredited face to face training with practical skills sessions which is tailored to organisational need and policies. For CCT skilled Trainers to deliver training which fulfils the current Core Skills Training Framework(CSTF), current CQC and NICE guidelines.

Course Objectives

  1. To gain knowledge and awareness of the causes of Parkinson’s disease
  2. To gain knowledge and awareness the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease
  3. To gain knowledge and awareness of the referral and diagnosis process
  4. To gain knowledge and awareness of the risk factors associated with Parkinson’s disease
  5. To gain knowledge and awareness of the pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment interventions of Parkinson’s disease
  6. To gain knowledge and awareness of alternative evidence based medicines used to treat Parkinson’s disease
  7. To gain knowledge and awareness of the benefits of ethics,consent to treatment, patient rights and patient centred care to those patients who suffer from Parkinson’s disease
  8. To gain knowledge and awareness of the benefits of effective communication when working and supporting patients with Parkinson’s disease
  9. To gain knowledge and awareness of the benefits of follow up care, relapse prevention and the role of the MDT
  10. To gain knowledge and awareness of supporting carers caring for patients who suffer from Parkinson’s diseaseand how their involvement benefits the patient in the whole recovery process

Course Benefits

This face to face course which provides learners with an in-depth Insight, knowledge and skills on how to support and care for adults diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease from understanding the causes, symptoms, types of Parkinson’s disease and the risks associated, the importance of empowering patient and respecting their rights, ethics and consent to pharmacological and non-pharmacological evidence based interventions, the importance of MDT working and family involvement  to support recovery and rehabilitation processes.
